we are using macros , macros accepts only xls file

What does your macro look for .xls extension or Type of file? I dont know much about Macros, but I think they only look for file name and extension. Another suggestion would be to find a macro or script that can convert .xlsx format to .xls in excel.

In the destination when you mention the name of the report, just mention %SI_NAME%.xls. See if that works
