Is a FIX PACK regression-tested like a SERVICE PACK - or is it more like the old HOT FIXES...?

We have internal policies about what we can deploy.

Unfortunately, these are basically hot fix packs that are released almost on a monthly basis. Haven't heard anything recently regarding a forthcoming major release or service pack. We install in a sandbox environment and extensively test everything out before moving to development, test and production. In fact, we are just now moving to apply FixPack 1.3 in production after 2 months in test.

The current minimum recommended patch level for Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 with connectivity to SAP is Fixpack 1.2. FixPack 1.3 is also available. Many of the issues you described are addressed and possibly improved with the latest Fixpack. Also, several notes are available for the BW system in order to address MDX query times. See Note 1142664 - MDX: Composite SAP note about performance improvements: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1142664.
