CCM database copy

We are doing a new installation of BOE XI 3.1. At the same time we will be migrating our current CCM database from Oracle to SQL Server. Can I do the database migration with the new install or will I have to do use our current installation of BOE XI to migrate the CCM database and then install BOE XI 3.1 and point the CCM to the new SQL SErver database

You can try a CCM DB copy from XIR2/XIR1, and then run the update objects once the CMS, and both FRS servers are running on 3.1.

If you have problems with that then open a message with support and you may have to use the import wizard. Hopefully both methods work and neither will cause issues.

Since posting my original question, I have found this document: cr_server_xi_migrating_to_xi_r2.pdf. On page 4, item 5 describes migrating the system data from the old CMS database to the new CMS database. This was for XI r2 of course.

Does anyone know if this functionality is still in XI 3.1?

Also, this migration refers to setting up a new BOE server system alongside our original system. Would this also work for setting up a new Server system as we are doing?

using the CCM DB copy in 3.1 you can copy a DB from XI or convert to another DB type. It should work in both cases.

Thanks Tim,

If I do a database copy, what happens with the groups and folder permissions from the old system? Do they come over also?

Absolutly everything will be just like in the old system in this area after CCM DB copy.
