Variable created from multiple queries does not display in summary

I have a WEBI report with multiple queries. The results are merged and a variable is created from two measures in separate queries. The variable displays and caculates correctly when the lowest level of detail is displayed in a report. But when I create a report at a summary level the calculated variable is blank.

For example the variable displays correctly at the item level but when the report is at the brand level it does not display. I have tried using Sum but that seems to make no difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

Darwin,

When using Merged Dimension, then those merged items must be a part of the output before you'll see the metrics or facts that are supported by those items in your report. If you remove any of those dimension(s) from your report, then the fact(s) don't come through. I know that this is a bummer, so sometimes you have to think of other stregies if you're going to "rollup" the data at different aggregations. For example, construct a derived table in Designer that does the merging (join) of data, or construct a view in your database. Once either of these items are available, then you can build a universe/objects and then the report you want.

Thanks,

John

That is what I was afraid might be the answer. Not having seen the Computation error I sometimes see related to similar issues I wasn't sure.

Creating a view or derived table may not be a possible solution as the data is coming from two separate databases.
