What is the limit for (per SAP) OS / domain user passwords

I have just recently done an install of both ECC 6.0 and Netweaver BI 7.0

In both instances I have tried to follow our own standards as far as passwords are concerned. My question is there a limitation on password length etc as far as OS user/passwords and domain user/passwords, when setting up thru sapinstall?

Hi Maria,

While doing installation it asks for Master password and the only constraint here is put on length (it has to be 8 to 14 characters) these all information can be found from installation guide. Minimum password length requirement for different users varies as you can also find from the inst guide.

I don't think SAP puts a limit on OS / domain userid or passwords.

As different OS would have different limits.

If you are looking for within SAP, you can define the SAP User management policies as per the following link:
