server crashes with large datasets

all -

we have upgraded to 3.1 and recently upped the result set size in all of our universes to 2 million rows. the binary stream max size in the reports server is set to 250mb. when a user kicks off a query that returns 1.5 million records, the windows server cpu usage spikes and either brings the report server or the entire box down. are there any other settings to check for this? is there a scaling document/environment guidelines for systems handling files this size? we currently have only a hand full of concurrent users (20), but that is estimated to grow considerably in the near future. we obviously need to get this issue resolved before more users stress the system.

thanks in advance -

we run entirely through webi on these servers. the servers (2) are windows 2003. each server has 2 web report servers running. please let me know if any details or settings would help.
