Webi Report in Excel using Live Office will not refresh

Former Member

Hi,

I have imported a Webi report into Excel using Live Office and it refreshes OK. However after several days I re-opened the spreadsheet containing the Webi report and the Live Office refresh button is now greyed out and I cannot refresh the report.

I have not made any changes to the Webi report during this time.

How can I get the report to refresh without having to re-import the report?

Thanks for any assistance

Regards

Ben

Are you sure you are logged into Enterprise in excel when you open that file ?

What happens if you try to add new report to the same spreadsheet ?

Hi Denis,

yes, I can add a new report. In fact when I try to do so it warns me that there is already a Live Office object in the report and inserting a new one will overwrite it.

If it was a simple as just re-inserting the same report again I wouldn't mind but we have multiple worksheets with links to the data returned by the Live Office Webi report which get affected and ranges set up which we lose and have to re-create when re-inserting the report again.

I didn't have the setting "Refresh Live Office object on document open" as it wasn't necessary to run the report every time the spreadsheet was opened but this seems to force a refresh and keep the Live Office object refreshability intact. I need to test this over a period of time as the refresh issue seems to happen after some time (1 week or so).

Any further suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Ben

Thank you for the details.

Can you provide a bit more details on the environment ?

Is your BOE installed clustered or single box ?

Do you have one or multiple Application servers (Tomcat or WL or WAS) connected thru load balancer ?

What URL are you using in LO settings for connection to Enterprise ?

What version of BOE and LO are you using ?

You have a version missmatch between LO client and the server.

LO client is SP4 and Server side SP3.

If you downgrade LO to SP3 or upgrade server side to SP4, your issue most likely will go away.

Hi Denis,

I have rolled back the BO Live Office to SP3 as suggested. However when I log in from Excel using Live Office I no longer can see the Public Folders with the sub folders. I can only see the folders Recent and My Favourites.

However I can see the Public Folders and all subfolders only when I log in as Administrator.

Surely this is a bug? If so then what do I install to overcome this? SP4? Then I am back with the same issue of a mismatch?

Please advise.

It doesn't sound like a bug, it sounds like the user you're using doesn't have enough rights.

Give the group he belong to View right on Public Folders and you will see them.

Hi Denis,

OK, I have sorted that out, thanks. I will see how I go with this SP3 and see if it resolves my problem over the next few weeks.

Thanks for your assistance, it is appreciated!

Ben
