IBP Supply & Response vs GATP (APO)

Hi Experts,

Could anyone let me know if all functionalities of APO GATP are already covered by IBP Supply and Response? If not, what is still not covered?

Many thanks

Juan C.

Hi,

SAP APO application modules transformation moved to IBP and S/4HANA.

1. IBP carries DP (Demand Planning), SNP (Supply network planning) and Small part of GATP(Global available to promise).

2. S/4HANA carries GATP (Global available to promise) and PPDS (Production planning and detailed scheduling).

S/4HANA:

Advanced Available-to-Promise (ATP) is a business function in SAP S/4HANA that provides a response to order fulfillment enquiries in Sales and Distribution (SD) and Production Planning (PP). The order fulfillment enquiries consist of required materials and plants, as well as their respective requested quantities and dates. The result of the ATP check is based on the current stock situation and any future, anticipated or planned stock receipts and takes concurrent orders into account.

For more information about advanced Available-to-Promise (aATP) in SAP S/4HANA, see:

The above are key topics from GATp moved to S/4HANA and some additional features are going to add in future.

IBP:

Product Allocations:

You have set up a planning run with constraints that allows you to manage the limited supply of materials with your customers, so that each customer receives only a particular amount of the available supply.

When you execute the planning run, the system generates a constrained forecast. You can analyze this constrained forecast and if it suits your requirements, you perform the following tasks:

  • Copy the constrained forecast to a product allocation using the COPY operator.

For more information about the COPY operator, see Copy (COPY) Operator.

  • Enter the allocation details manually using the spreadsheet application.

Production Allocation Consumption:

When a sales order item consumes the product allocation quantity, the system automatically deducts the item quantity from the currently remaining allocation quantity.

In the standard planning area SAP7, key figures ALLOCATIONCONS and ALLOCATIONREMAIN provide the values forConsumed Allocation and Remaining Allocation.

Hi Irmhild,

Thanks for your answer, although I am more confuse that before 😉

My understanding was that APO (DP, SNP, gATP, etc) functionalities will be all covered by SAP IBP.

Are you meaning that some APO gATP funtionalities will be covered by S4 and others by IBP supply and response?

Thank for the clarification.

hi

IBP is not intended to replace gATP, that would be found in S/4HANA

However, we do have some overlap such as that you could check on allocation reatrictions during the confirmation or deployment run, or that you can set up priority rules

But it will not replace ATP

Hi

There´s no such as an "overlap" between S/4HANA and IBP. APO will not be supported after 2025. That´s why some parts of APO will be in S4/HANA and other parts will be supported by IBP.
