Easy DMS public root foler vs. private folder

Hi All,

I just installed the Easy DMS software on my PC and was able to log into SAP via Easy DMS. However had a few doubts that I needed to clear:

1. Does the EDIPUBLICROOTFOLDER document get created for every user who uses Easy DMS for the first time?

2. There were two folders create Public root folder and Private root folder. Can someone elaborate how these two differ and and be used.

Thanks,

Sarita

Hi Sarita

For every user, root folder would be created when he / she logs in first time.. A pop up opens asking whther folder should be created and by default a folder would be created with 'FOL' doc type and the user name as Folder name..

If u check in R/3 u can see a Document Structure created with your name and FOL as Doc type..

Private folders / Public folders in Easy DMS are similar to your desktop folders / Share folders in Microsoft Windows respectively..

Aby

Yes, only for the first time

2. There were two folders create Public root folder and Private root folder. Can someone elaborate how these two differ and and be used.

The personal folder contains your local documents which are not accessible by any other user and the public folder contains all documents that are also available to all other users.

Thank You,

Manoj

Hi ..

I was thinking Private folder also can be viewed by any one if they give the correct Doc type and Doc number using search in Easy DMS..

Though the private folders wont be displayed publicly (as no one can see it while opening Easy DMS window), anyone can access it giving correct doc type and doc number.. unless it is controlled by ACL s or other Authorisations..

As I am not using this right now, can someone check and correct me if I am wrong..??

Hi Aby

You are correct. though the the document is in private folder of one user, it can be accessed by the other user using the dir number and document type. I had checked it.

Thanks
