Lasso chart with more than 1 dimension

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a robust way to achieve the lasso drill down effect on a chart (legacy not info-chart) when you have more than one dimension shown?

My chart show both year and month along the X axis as I want to utilise the nice feature of shown the year just once under all of the months rather than repeating the year for each point. This way you get a nice grouping effect and the chart looks clean.

However if I then try and use the lasso feature it get confused when trying the get members and applies all of the selected months and against all of the selected years. So if I select month 12 and 11 from 2015 and month 1 for 2016, the lasso would actual believe it has selected months 1,11 and 12 from both 2015 and 2016.

I could merge the year and month into one column in BEX and then use that, the I really don't want to see the year repeating over and over as the chart displayed 36 data points at first.

I have also tried to add the merge field to the initial view and then selected "No Display", but it gets displayed on the chart anyway so it seems to be some sort of a bug on the chart component.

Any ideas welcome!

Hi - have you seen Noel's blog? Perhaps try his suggestions?

      Hi Tammy,

Thanks for the response I had seen Noel's blog when looking for a solution, however it doesn't offer a solution to my exact issue.

As you will see from the images in the blog, the charts only have one dimension on the X-Axis so the "GetSelectedMemebrs" will work just fine for both lasso and reverse-lasso. Noel was just trying to solve how to have both at the same time, on a single chart component.

I need a way to user "GetSelectedMemebers" properly when using 2 dimensions or get selected members from a dimensions that is not visible on the chart component.

      Thanks again
