How do you increase the max limit for spool numbers?

Hello,

Our customer has about 180,000 spools in their system, and they cannot be deleted. We received an alarm for too many spool entries stored in the system, and our customer would like to increase the limit to 250,000. Right now, we have parameter rspo/spool_id/max_number set to 200,000.

As per Note 48284, I can increase this by changing the upper limit of the interval for number range object SPO_NUM in transaction SNRO. The SAP Note does not mention anything about parameter rspo/spool_id/max_number.

We currently have the upper limit for SPO_NUM set to 300,000.

My questions are:

1. Do I need to change rspo/spool_id/max_number at all? Or can I leave it as is, since the upper limit is 300,000?

My goal is to be able to have up to 250,000 spools stored in the system at one time without running into printing problems.

Thank you!

Ian

Because there is no specific information about relation between both of these settings anywhere...

As per common understanding....

Solution provided by note 48284 should override on the parameter settings on live environment.

But If you restart the box , I believe the rspo/spool_id/max_number will set back to 200,000.

I think you might need to confirm this...

If there are no implications of increasing rspo/spool_id/max_number ,It will be good to have same settings to both.At least above the customer requirements.

Of-course it will be always recommended to get SAP suggestion about setting only one of these if not sure.

Hai,

Logically speaking the when the SPO_NUM set to 32,000 and if the system reaches the said limit it starts dumping SPOOL_INTERNAL_ERROR, even if the parameter rspo/spool_id/max_number is set to 99000 which is default.

So in your case the number range will be in effect and I guess you dont need to change the parameter to the value same as the number range.
