Hi,
is it possible to use different versions of Crystal/ Business Objects software on top of the same SAP system?
One of our customers is running Crystal Enterprise V10 for reporting of data from a SAP BW 3.5 system. We are planning to build a new application using BO Enterprise XI 3.1 with the corresponding version of BO Integration for SAP solutions.
As part of the installation of the SAP integration KIT we have to import certain transports into the SAP system.
The following transports had been imported for the use of CR v10:
K900184, Crystal Decisions personalization functions v10
K900190, Crystal Decisions Security Functions v10. Unicode compatible
K900200, Crystal Content Administration Workbench v10
Are the transports which are delivered with SAP Integration for XI3.1 backward compatible with the previous releases of BO/CR so that we can import the whole set of transports? Are there any changes to SAP objects that CRv10 uses and will it be possible to stay with the existing reporting solution based on CR even with newer version SAP objects?
Regards,
Marko
Hi Marko,
we would recommend always to have the transports and the BOE Server versions matching.

Thanks Ingo,
I understand your recommendation as that we should deploy the SAP transports matching the BOE server (and SAP Integration Kit) version.
I'm wondering if there would be an impact on an old Crystal solution (BW OEM).
Would you recommend the upgrade of this solution as mandatory? We would prefer to stay with the current productive environment (if possible) and to upgrade during a later step.
Best Regards,
Marko
Hi,
the transports from the newer version might offer functionality that you can not leverage with the old version.
I assume you are not planning to have both versions in paralell in production - or ?
what about leaving the production environment for now on v 10 and use XI 3.1 against the Development environment ?
