I currently have a Crystal Reports XI developer license which is used in a large VB6 application. The application is degrading around Crystal Reports - it's started crashing with runtime errors. The reports module hasn't been changed radically in a long time so it's perplexing as to why it's degrading.
As an experiment, I thought I'd do a debug release with the latest version. I'm just downloading the trial but this doesn't mention "Developer version" anywhere. In fact, I can't find out much about developer versions for 2008.
Will I be able to get at the Crystal Report ActiveX viewers in this trial version?
Thanks, Rob.

Hi Rob,
For Crystal Reports 2008 we dont have Catgories like Developer or professional as in case of XI R2
It is the only edition and provides all the functionalities.
You can try it by 30 day trial version.

I've just installed the trial using the trial code supplied and it doesn't appear to have installed any of the developer ActiveX controls.
Previously, I would have added some flavour of the Crystal Reports ActiveX viewer but this control isn't listed.
Am I doing something stupid?
Thanks, Rob.
Hello Rob,
Didn't see your question till now, but here's the info:
You're using VB6, so I'm assuming you're using the Report Designer Component SDK.
The RDC was deprecated with XI Release 2 - the version previous to Crystal Reports 2008.
The RDC is still fully supported with version XI Release 2.
Crystal Reports 2008 comes with the Crystal Reports .NET and inproc RAS .NET SDKs.
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda
Hi Rob
The version of Crystal Reports (i.e. Standard, Developer, Professional) depends on the License key which we enter while installing.
All these different versions has different functionalities. You will have to enter the developer Lincense key to get the developer version.
Hope this helps you.
