Hi SAP Community Team,

One of our production system creating more number of archive logs in database, creating archive log files at the period of time 11 am to 11:25 am (60+), regular days creating one archive log file it takes one or days in same system.

We have checked also in system logs, active or finished background jobs, work load monitor, alert log and DB verify

Kindly give a suggestion,

Regards,

Satish.

Hard to understand your question. It jumps from archive files to archive logs and ends in archive log files.

A screenshot could eventually help to know about what you are talking

Hi Satish,

First of all. Redolog generation is something that is expected. Redolog generation depends on various factors, like System usage, and data density created during the workload, and also the enhanced.

Also having about 2,4 Redo Log created in a minute, is not something you should worry about (if and when everything is right).

We even have an SAP note that describes a situation of having more Redo Logs then what is expected:

1627481 - Preemptive redolog switches in Oracle 11.2 and higher

By reading that SAP note, you should have a glimps now that you should ask yourself "what have been changed just before we started to see more Redo Logs got generated".

But in any case, I recommend you to schedule Redo Log Backup more often to avoid "Archiver Stuck" as this would lead to System Down Situations.

János

Dear customer,

To find out what causes archive redo log increasing, we reocmmend you use logminer to check the affected archvied redo log.

You may refer note ##1128990 - Using Oracle Logminer with Oracle >= 10g

-->f) Which segments were responsible for the largest Redo log load?

May the info help.

Besides Jackie's comment (most probably), the online backup without rman will cause archived log increasing as well, because during online back, we need more redo to guarantee consistency, you may check this point further.
