Data Classes for InfoCubes

Hi Gurus,

I am trying to do the BI upgrade from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0, and I am currently working on the preparation phase. I am struck at steps where they are mentioned Converting Data Classes of infocubes. I am lilttel confused. Note: 46272, 500252 does not have an idea, Why & how to create new data class.

Can someone please tell me step by step how to create a new data class? and what do I exactly need to do in report "RSDG_DATCLS_ASSIGN"?

I think I need to run this report with OLD data class and map with new data class (that will be created under customer name space) to convert the info cubes, so we wont loose any data classes during the upgrade?

-Why we create data classes(I never heard even that we create data classes for infocube!)?

-What is the use of Data classes?

- How we identify that we crate data classes for Infocubes?

- How to create data class? step by step please.

- What is the next step after creating data classes?
