Am I right in saying that by going into Pick and Pack procedures, in fact I am only "Picking" products and not Packing products. As far as I can see the Packing procedure is not in Pick and Pack option but the Delivery option - this is a bit confusing!
What our company wants to do is to Pack products and I am not sure that in my B12007 version, this option is actually working. Has nybody used this option without problems? I have used this option for trial purposes and I found a few strange things:
a: If I pack some products into a BOX(type of packaging) and then delete the packed line (on the right hand side of the screen), sometimes it worked fine and the packed product was returned to the Left hand side of the screen, ie Product became "available" for packing. However, sometimes it did not work that way and somehow I ended up by having less products "available for packing" than the original Delivery document. In other words, in the packaging process I have just "lost" some products? This is probably a "bug"
b. Outer Box sizes are determined in the Item master data but how does this information filter to the Packaging Process? The reason for this question is that I cannot see the "packaging" process work out the number of Outers needed for an Order and I think that it should. For instance, if my Delivery Note says that I need 144 products to be packed and in the Item Master Data it shows that an outer contains 36 products, then I would expect the Packaging process to work out that I need 4 Boxes to be packed.
c. What happens with the "unpacked" products. If I partly pack an order, SAP gives a warning about this but I am not sure if this is recorded anywhere as an "outstanding" packaging that needs to be followed up.
I wonder if anybody has some thoughts about this topic or experience in how to use and implement this feature of SAP. We are also trying to use a Bar Code reader that could confirm that the right product was packed into the Box but so far we could not find a way of doing this. I was thinking that a UDF may be the solution but the only place for this UDF is at the Header level in User Defined Fileds/Marketing Document/PckageContent
Thank you
Robert
