Hi Friends,

I am trying to install Hana on high availability, am new to this configuration.

during Hana HA server set up

Node A will be used for Hana DB

Node B will be used for Hana DB

SAP application where do we need to install on Node A ? or on another server ?

how this cluster set up will be performed , do we have SAP standard cluster software for failover or third party vendors we need to take .

Where do we install the cluster software .

Regards

There are different flavors of HANA High Availability, so my suggestion would be to firstly decide which method you'd like to use. Then, you can follow some guides and manuals to do the config.

The basic approach for HANA High Availability is to use System Replication, however, it doesn't include automatic failover. In that scenario, you are installing two separate instances (with the same SID) and then you configure the replication between system. To enable automatic failover you should use operating system capabilities.

Please have a look at my blog where I guide through configuration:

Hi Sir,

I am bit confused , on Node A after installing Hana DB i need to install the ASCS , then on Node B Hana DB and Application server installation.

Now we need to do enable replication process .

After doing replication process on both nodes, for automatic fail over in suse linux on AWS , which software we need to use .

Hi Sir,

I want to understand , servers installations!

SAP application where we need to install as per sap standards

on Node A only hana DB we will install !!

on Node B only hana DB we will install !! and enable the replication process correct .

But SAP application (ASCS ) where we have to install either on node A or another server ( 3rd server ) .

When Node A fails SAP application will be moving Node B ?

Suse linux cluster will automate the moving process ? replication with automated failover we are looking .

How the process goes on please explain .

Regards

Mahesh

Hi Mahesh,

there are a lot of guides which you can consider for your setup. You can setup your cluster in different ways. Which way is the right one for you depends on your needs and your SLA's. Just start reading the SUSE guide on section 3.3.1 SAP HANA system replication.
