BEx excluding hierarchy nodes at runtime not possible

Hey all,

in BEx Analyzer I try to filter on a hierarchy at runtime. In filter panel i right click on a characteristic and choose "select filter value". There I open the right list for "selected selection" and put a node from left to right side. Now I want to exclude that node from selection. Normally I got that red button to do so but that is missing now. I can only save the selection.

So for me it is not possible to exclude a hierarchy node from selection. But I need to do so. So how can I exclude hierarchy nodes from selection?

I use Office 2016 (I am not sure but I think it is the 32 Bit version).

Bex Analyzer Addon is 7.x (based on 7.40) with support package 9 Patch 10 and Revision 2130.

OS is Windows 7

Thanks for your help.

Best regards

Matthias

Edit: We also tried it with Patch 20 of the Bex Addon

    Dear Customer,

Please check if this helps you:

It is not possible to exclude values for hierarchy nodes in characteristic restrictions because, with processing by authorizations being integrated with hierarchy nodes, using exclude can result in:
    i) Performance problems: When processing a hierarchy OLAP initialize a hierarchy as slice (a part of hierarchy) which is requested i.e included in restrictions. In case of exclusion OLAP have to initialize a hierarchy twice which can lead to long runtime.
ii) Unexpected results due to authorizations: In case of a time dependent hierarchy structure, where each node has individual validity. It is always possible that same node is present multiple times in the same hierarchy. Excluding one such node will not exclude the other occurrences of the same node, resulting in unexpected query results. This scenario is also true in case of "linked nodes" and "temporal hierarchy joins".

Thus the change in functionality is to provide increased data security in BEx.

Also, please refer the following SAP Notes:

    Thanks & Regards,
