Migrate Purchasing Contract with Item Status = Inactive for Sourcing

Former Member

Hi,

Is there a way to upload Purchasing Contracts (migration tool or otherwise), with the Item Status set to "Inactive for Sourcing"? It seems the migration templates do not allow for this...

We have a scenario where we want to create a large amount of new Purchasing Contract data but make it active gradually by flipping the Item Status at the right time.

Thanks!

Hi Eelco,

I am not entirely sure, if you will be able to migrate contract with the item status inactive for sourcing.

What I understand is you should migrate only released and approved contracts. If contract is not released or approved in legacy system, you need to create the new contact in Bydesing manually.

I understand that you would like to use the contract in future and hence would activate for the Sourcing later, In which case would it be possible to maintain the valid from date in future so that it will not be used immediately after you migrate the contracts.

Another option could to use web service. But I am not sure if that allows you to set the status.

Hi Harshal,

Thanks. The issue is data creation: there are a lot of products involved, and we can create the data outside ByD fairly efficiently, so we do not want to create the contract manually in ByD (too time consuming and too error-prone). But the transition process from current to new supplier will be gradual, so we're hoping to create the contracts in 1 go, then activate the individual items as and when they are activated with the new supplier.

Webservices might be an option, but would take a little time to figure out exactly how to use to do this....

But let me explore the idea of using the valid from date, that might work......

Hi Harshal,

Setting the Valid From date on the Item to a date in the future works, the item is migrated with the status Inactive for Sourcing, and we can modify that in ByD after the migration.

Thanks,

Eelco
