HA installation on HP UX

Hi,

I am into the preparation of Production server (in High Availability environment) installation on HP UX server. We have developement server running on one server and Production server on another server.

I have to cluster the production server with Developement server.

I need to know how I can proceed the directories named as /oracle, /oracle/stage,/oracle/client and usr/sap/trans.

In swithover profile we have mentioned the following directories to the node 2 server(Dev)

/oracle/SFP

/oracle/SFP/origlogA

/oracle/SFP/origlogB

/oracle/SFP/mirrlogA

/oracle/SFP/mirrlogB

/oracle/SFP/oraarch

/oracle/SFP/saparch

/oracle/SFP/sapreorg

/oracle/SFP/sapdata1

/oracle/SFP/sapdata2

/oracle/SFP/sapdata3

/oracle/SFP/sapdata4

/sapmnt/SFP

/usr/sap/SFP

Is that will make any issue for Developement server. or give me the suggestion to continue the installation.

Regards,

Kumar

Hi,

Unless you have the same hardware on both the servers are same.. And coming to the FS.. you need to make sure that oracle/client, sapmnt/SID/exe, /usr/sap/trans has to be mounted permenantly on the both servers, and also same users has to be created in both servers (SIDadm, oraSID). And one more thing pls check the listener port of the Dev server and Prod, both has to be diiferent, if not the server will not be up.

I hope you are installing on ABAP Stack, ASCS and DB will be the failover.

Hope this information will be help ful.

Hi Mahesh,

Thanks for your suggestions.

As per my requirement ASCS, DB and CI will be installed on Virtual host name on Primary node.

There will not be any installation on Secondary node. Just the switch over filesystem will be configured on

node 2 and the Home directories will be copied.

When node 1 fails, All switchover directories will be shifted to node 2 ( by MC/Service guard package).

Then I have to manually login in that node 2( I will stop the running DEV instances) and need to start SAP Instances for the PRD ( ASCS, DB and CI ).

to understand our landscape pls open the below link ( System Landscape diagram is attached)

http://picasaweb.google.co.in/kumarunp/LandscapeDiagram?feat=directlink#5302548471631628562

Kindly clear my doubt on the above scenerio will Work or Fail after the installation,

or give me the suggestions to avoid any failure.

Kumar

Hi,

You need to have the same virtual hostname on both nodes, and i hope that all the sapdata files will be on the SAN.. /usr/sap/trans, /sapmnt/SID/, and /oracle/client has to be mounted on both the nodes which will be local directories.

During the installation initially you create OS level users using the sapinst and also in the second node.. So that /home directory will be having the information abt the users in node1 as well in node2.

I suggest that you have to get some more information on the HA .
