Move from cost element planning to unit costing

Dear,

At the start of the project planning is done on cost elements / Wbs level. During the project, the project activities and purchase orders are specified. The latter will update cost planning (unit costing), and SAP automatically adds up the planned costs from cost element planning and unit costing. Does one than continuously need to update (downwards) the cost element planning in order to keep the overall cost planning correct, or is there another possibility?

txs, Koen

Hi Koen,

I am not exactly sure what your problem is but this is what I am understanding;

Situation:You plan using CJ40 (either on structure or CE wise) as a initial Plan.

Later when you use network activities, the amount planned in Ext Activity etc add to the plan value of the WBS element thus adding to the originally planned values using CJ40.

Possible Solution:

1. You change the order value update and tell the system not to add the plan values from the NWA to the WBS plan values SPRO=>Project System=>Costs=>Planned Costs=>Define Order Value Updating for Orders for Projects

2. Create a seperate plan version for your initial planning Let us say xxx. While doing initial planning in CJ40 use this plan version xxx.

When you put plan values in NWA this value will be added to plan/actual version 0 by default.

Hence if you want to see initial plan select values from plan xxx and when you want to see plan from NWA select version 0. In this way you'll be able to make use of some plan version comparision reports also, comparing your initial plan to later detailed planning.
