Anil,

You use SDM to deploy 6.40 SPS (see note 544979). You can download the latest SPs from market place ( service.sap.com/swdc @ support packages->Entry by application group->sap netweaver->sap netweaver->sap netweaver 04->support packages stacks). Just select version you are currently at and the target release you want to goto, you will get a list of packages you need to apply. Java support stacks are cumulative so just get the latest version. Upgrade ABAP stack first and then upgrade java. Try in your sandbox before you upgrade any other systems.

-good luck

Hi Nandi,

Thanks for your support.

As i have never worked on java in my earlier projects.

Here i will be asking some simple questions which i am not aware. Please help me.

From Note 54479 i came to know that Java Support Packs are imported using Software Delivery Manager(SDM).

Here i have few queries

1)How can i find the J2EE Version which is currently running in our system and the patch level.

2)We have raised customer message to SAP on our BW 3.5 support packs implementation asking them to give inputs from there side on BW 3.5 Support Packs implementation and they have given us two Note 672651 OCS: Known problems with Support Packages in Basis Rel.6.40 and 836439 SAPBWNews BW Support Package 14 NW'04 Stack 14 RIN. In the Note 672651 and 836439 there is nothing mentioned on Java Support Packs.

Please let me know whether Java Support Packs are required or not. Please help me because i am getting confused.

Regards,

Anil.

1) To see the j2ee version information: http://<host>:<j2ee_port>/sap/monitoring/ComponentInfo

2) As a general advice, you should apply a support package stack, this includes the j2ee packages too.

Java Support Pack Installation is easy.

1. Copy all the support pack to the <Drive>:\usr\sap\trans\EPS\in\ folder.

2. Login to JSPM and deploy all the Java Support Packs.

<Drive>\usr\sap\<sid>\DVEBMGS01\j2ee\JSPM\go.bat
