BW 3.0B Non Unicode

Hi,

We have BW 3.0B Non Unicode and we are in the initial planning phase for Unicode Conversion ( Plan to

Finish by July this year )

I see Tons of Resources for BW 3.5 Non Unicode to Unicode and even for BW 3.1 - Restrictions, PreReqs, Tips n' Tricks on Functional / Tech. Aspects etc. But, NOT on BW 3.0B !! However, I went through the BASIS 620 SPS 60 - CUnUC Guide for Target Update to NW04s SPS 15 ..which is applicable to BW 3.0

Would it be better if we first opt to upgrade our system BW 3.0B to BW 3.5 ? And then go for CUnUC to BI7.0 ?

OR Is it safe to go for the CUnUC directly from BW 3.0B to BI 7.0 SPS 15 ?

Hi Ishan,

a Unicode conversion is not released for BW 3.0 (although converting WAS 6.20 would be possible, the BW part of BW 3.0 does not allow it).

Therefore you have two choices:

1) Upgrade to NW 7.0 and separate the Unicode conversion from this (do it later)

2) Combine both the upgrade and the Unicode conversion in one weekend.

The official CU&UC approach (see note 928729) is not released for this scenario (project based only).

However it would be possible to do the Upgrade and right after that the Unicode conversion - the downtime compared to the CU&UC approach would be not much larger (mainly Unicode nametab generation) ...

Prerequisite for this approach is that you do not use MDMP on your BW system !
