How do I import data from text file to the Test Data Container for a CBTA script ?

I have created a test script using CBTA Tool, I want to take data from TXT file (External Variant) in TDC, May I know the process how to do this

Hello Vijay,

Within the Test Configuration you have the option of external variant, select this radio button for input of the values through notepad file.

Yes you can do that , please let me know if you are executing from Test Plan or executing the Test Configuration directly.

If you are executing from the Test Plan then you need to select the variant which you want to execute in the Test selection tab of the Test Plan

If you are executing from the Test Configuration then you have the option of selecting the variants to be executed at run time.

I have a question: In ME21N or ME51N how can we enter multiple line items in the SAPGrid table dynamically using CBTA? The same script should work for 5 -10-20-50 or 100 line items. Is there a way we can handle this issue?

Can you please tell how to select specific variants (Eg. Var3 to Var5) from Test Plan to execute as I am not able to find any option to do so.

I am able to select it easily when executing from test configuration.

Hello Deepika,

This is possible by specifying variant needed in the Test Case tab of the Test Plan creation. Once selected create test package and assign to the tester.

But I have one question :

I have added 5 variants in .txt file but I need to execute from 3rd variant to 5th variant.

Is there any way to execute without modifying the txt file.

I didn't get any solution, If you know help me out on this

Hello Vijay,

There are many posts on the same query.

You have the option to download variant in the TDC, so the file gets downloaded as .txt file

Since in notepad its not in readable format , you can add variants in the excel by opening the .txt file as excel

make changes and save. Finally you should have .txt file with updated variants. Now link this .txt file back to the TDC and link the TDC to Test Configuration and execute the Test Configuration.

The values should be picked from external file linked to the Test Configuration.
