Hi,

I am not able to display values with units in the bar chart. but in the cross tab, able to see measure values with units.

Cross tab - able to see Ingredient Amount with units

Bar chart - not able to see Ingredient Amount with units

Can you please check and suggest...is there any workaround to display values and units in bar chart.

Thanks,

Hi Sreenivasulu Dasari,

Yes you can. In the additional properties of chart you will have a dropdown as format under data label option.

Just type as "######## grams" in it.

The # value is to specify how many digits of value you need to show in data label then you can add any text you want add to it as prefix or suffix

Thanks,

Poovarasan

Hi Tammy,

Thanks for quick reply.

We are trying to display values with units on bar (outside/inside). not in tool tip.

Could you please check and suggest any workaround.

Thanks, Sreeni

I only see the unit of measure on a tooltip on a chart - see below

Perhaps this is an idea for Idea Place? https://ideas.sap.com/SBODesignStudio

Some Design Studio extensions offer more tooltip formatting - see http://cdn.visualbi.com/wp-content/uploads/Visual-BI-Extensions-VBX-For-SAP-Businessobjects-Design-Studio-Brochure.pdf

You can check the SAP Analytics Extensions directory here: https://analytics-extensions.enter.sap

Hi Sreenivasulu Dasari,

I think the visualisation is not meaning full even if you add units to the data labels as the value are with huge difference in scaling as you can see that the bar of 327 grams is longer than the values in tonnes and kilograms.

I you want implement the same view try using three bar charts one below the other and give the data label format with required unit in all three charts and make them look like one chart by giving zero value to padding

Let me know if you have any problem in implementing this work around.

Thanks,

Poovarasan

Hi Poovarasan,

Is there anyway to display units with values on top of bar chart (if we have only one unit like grams)

Hi Poovarasan,

Thanks for reply,

Not hard-code as grams in chart data labels properties...is there any way we can display without hardcode.

Hi Sreenivasulu Dasari,

As far as I know there is no other way to it. The crosstab shows the unit in each row because different units are available in a same column or you must have selected show units and scaling in data cells option in crosstab properties.

But for the chart there are no such properties as you will be showing a measure of same unit to compare.

So,you can only hardcode the required unit to the data label

Thanks,

Poovarasan

Hi Sreenivasulu,

Can you clarify the business requirement for showing a chart with mixed units? The purpose of a bar chart is to compare measure values of the same scale/unit. As Poovarasan has pointed out, attempting to compare values with different scales/unit does not result in a meaningful comparison. If you only had two units of measure to compare then a dual axis chart would be appropriate but that is not the case here.

Although in your scenario all ingredients are of a weight dimension, it is not appropriate or meaningful to compare them with different units of measure.

Regards,

Mustafa.
