Advanced Error/Crash Logging for B1?

Former Member

I am attempting to diagnose some frequent B1 (2007a) client lock-ups, and I am having trouble gathering info on their cause. Does anyone know of a utility (SAP or 3rd party) that can be used for more verbose logging? I have been sending the dump (,DMP) files to SAP for analysis, but they do not seem to be providing enough information. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help Gordon. I do have a ticket open with SAP, though I accidentally closed it and I am waiting for them to reactivate it.

Support do have a way of changing the dmp files that create to contain more data for analysis, which we have had to do for one of our customers.

Do you have any consistency areoun the module being used or the tasks being performed when the dumps occur?

Hi Julie,

Thank you for this information. I will be sending further log files and .DMPs to support to see if more verbose logging is necessary. For reference to SAP support personell reviewing this post, I have support message 82165 (previous 60908) open on this issue.

Thank you again for all assistance.

Besides the dmp file, all files under Log folder are useful for you to know what processes cause the problem. For application error, you may only have those information. To me, that is good enough since we do not have ability to know what exactly happened. We do not need to know those detail either.

Thanks,

Gordon

Thank you for the feedback. I think part of my issue may be that I'm usure of what to make of the detail in the b1logger text files that often accompany crashes and errors. For instance a full client crash that occured on Tuesday (1/20/09) returned the following:

20/01/2009 12:53:11:762791 SystemMessage CriticalError Unha

Does anyone know what Unha means?

UnHa must be stand for incomplete UnHandled exception occur. That is not a good sign since even the log can not be completed for the crash.

My suggestion is log a support ticket to SAP and let them have a through check.

Thanks,

Gordon
