We have freshely installed a netweaver SR3 2004s java stack on sun solaris sparc 10 server .When checked the mmc http:
<servername>:50013

The system is not appearing in the mmc.do we have to explicitly add the system in the management console .

Check that the service was create and its started, if its not there use sapstartsrv.exe to recreate the service. once the service is usccessfully started you should be able to see it via SAPMMC.

I didn't notice that your are using solaris... MMC stands for Microsoft Management Console so i assumed you were using Windows...

In any case you can start sap in unix by login using <sid>adm user and enter command startsap

Hi

If you want to have a look, of instance details in Management Console. You can do it on your system

follow the url:

http://<host>:5<InstNr>13

Condition applies Java browser applet (JRE 1.4.2 required) installed.

And yes you have to add system explicitly.

Hope this solves your problem.

Rahul

when i tried to add the system explicitly .........it is pinging the ip address mentioned there but the problem is that it is not getting connected in the management console means the system cannot be reached from management console.

Hi,

You have SAP 2007 on Solaris. In Solaris there is no MMC, As MMC is for the Win systems,

If you want to check whether your SAP Application server running or not?

log in as <sid>adm.. run ps -ef | grep <SID>.. this will shows whether the process are running or not.

If not you can start SAP by running startsap..

You check in the browser http://<IP Address of the server>:5<nr>00/index.html.

Hi,

You can check the system using MMC using http://ipaddress:5xx13

This will give you the MMC in web browser.

There is a typo in the subject of the question .....i should have written MC not MMC...But the problem is that i am able to add but when i am trying to access it is saying that connection timed out.

Hi,

Are you able to add the systems?

Your browser should be able to run the activex controls or java controls.

You need to add the systems first then only you can see the systems in the console.

Vamshi.

Hi,

If it is a windows server go to Services.msc and start the SAP Services

Then re-open SAP MMC. You should be able to see the SAP Instance

Hi ,

When i am checking at the os level .

ps -ef|grep "sapstartsrv"

Once you have started the SAP system using MC ... Did you see at UNIX level if SAP processes are running?

I mean, Is this just a http connection failure or anything...

Few things could be checked....

1. Hope you have already updated your "hosts" file with IP address and host name?

2. If you do ping with option -t your network connection is continuous?

3. I hope you have already checked following sap.help to fulfill prerequisites

Also you did following to register SAP system?

Go to ... /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe <to your Kernel Directory>

sapstartsrv pf=
<Locate your start profile>

Anyways...

Why don' you try this SAP Note 823941 - SAP Start Service on Unix platforms

To start automatically at booting time.

Error says...

Something is wrong while connecting to your Server from Explorer...

Might be network problem(not continues) or connection configuration proxy etc.

Did you checked try starting sap server from Solaris prompt and then just adding system in MC?

Try connecting from another terminal ...
