BI Administrator: Session Management will not work

Former Member

Hi!

I would like to use BI Administrator Addon in SAP Portal.

All the configuration steps seems to be ok.

Unfortunately when I try to start some of applications of BI Administrator I get the following error:

Session Management will not work.

Please check the DSM log file for details

You can turn off this alert inside Support Desk --> SAP Application

Questions:

Where can I find the appropriate log file?

How can I solve this problem?

Any helpful information will be very appreciated!

Axel,

This issue is a known one and can be resolved by following these steps.

1. Go to System Administration.

2. Support-SAP Application

3.Under the debug mode, ensure you have the Session management alerts to off

Your issue is now resolved

Hi Sandeep

I was also facing same issue in portal where i have created BW iView. it gave me pop-up saying session management will not work.

i applied your solution and that pop-ups is no more appearing.

when you put the alerts off it seems that system is giving warning but only that user is not alerted. the solution blocks the alerts.but session management is not activated for BI.

1. What configurations are needed to be made in Portal/BI to activate session management work? or there is no need of session management in case of BI?

2. Also putting alerts off at portal server level will be applicable to all other applications(eg WD java) along with BI. how does this affects the application performance if at all it affects?

Thanks in advance

regards,

Deepak

This occurs when cookies are being passed across domains.

If the error occurs regularly, as that session management switch often resets itself , you'll need to look into relaxing the domain levels - this is set in the J2EE admin.
