Hi all,

I' am new to products of business objects.

Which integration sceario is supported by SAP considering crystal reports and sap enterprise portal (sap netweaver 7.0) ?

Can crystal reports be run on sap ep 7.0?

According installation guides of crystal reports the sap nw2004s (NW7.0 with jdk 1.4.2) is supported application server. But how does an installation or integration of both technologies look like?

What is the development and deployment and running of the developed report looks like?

You can deploy BusinessObjects Enterprise and Report Application Server web apps to SAP Web Application Server, that uses Crystal Reports with SAP Integration Kit.

Specific to Crystal Reports for Eclipse - there's no SAP Integration components, but you will be able to deploy CR4E Version 2 SDK web apps to SAP Web Application Server.

Hi Ted,

Are you sure "CR4E Version 2 SDK web apps" are able to run on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 with JRE 1.4.2 because "CR4E Version 2 SDK web apps" requires at least Java 1.5 ?

You're correct - the tested platform listed is specific to 7.1, that supports JVM 1.5.

Ted,

That means running "BusinessObjects Enterprise and Report Application Server web apps" on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is only possible via SAP Integration Kit without eclipse support! Am I right?

Note that Crystal Reports for Eclipse is a separate product from BusinessObjects Enterprise and Report Application Server. The CR4E Version 2 product will not interoperate with Enterprise or RAS server.

Also the CR4E support for NetWeaver 7.1 is runtime, and not design time - it won't integrate with the NetWeaver bundled version of Eclipse.

Ted,

Ok, CR4E has nothing to do with Business Object Enterprise or RAS Server, I understand it.

And only "Business Object Enterprise or RAS Server" supports reports (webapps) on SAP Netweaver 7.0 via SAP Integration Kit based on JVM 1.4.2.

Does the "Business Objects Integration Kit for SAP" supports only SAP R/3 and SAP Bi -Systems or am I also able to build reports on native SQL-databases via accessing the database tables and fields directly?

Thanks in advance.

The SAP Integration Kit is an add-on to Crystal Reports and BusinessObjects Enterprise that adds support for SAP data sources.

I'm not familiar with all the various product combinations available, and whether there's a version that restricts you to using the SAP data sources only.

But the Crystal Reports product does allow for direct-to-database connections, and Crystal Reports for Eclipse does allow for direct-to-database connections via JDBC, JNDI, XML and JavaBeans.

Sincerely,
