I want to know how the below requirement is to be handled?
inventory is managed by 3rd party logistics(non SAP), whenever we create Inventory record(cycle count / annual) in SAP system, the necessary information is to be sent to 3PL system(IDOC) and they start the actual counting process. These counted results are to be updated in SAP system so that the differences can be posted in SAP.
here i would like to know how this can be handled? at what stage the Idoc need to be triggereed and also the information on Basic type, message types and the segment types which can be used.
any sort of help would be appreciated.

Hi,
As you mentioned inventory is managed by third party logistics then inventory record will be created in their system. I advise following steps to your requirment.This is the most logical solution & experienced by me.
1.Inventory counting will happen in third party system.There is no need to create inventory document in SAP & sent to legacy system,but you can create & send it. Whatever results found after counting are posted in the third party system & these inventory postings will generate XML document or flat file which will be send to SAP system.Legacy system will send synchship information to SAP system to update the SAP inventory as per the Legacy system.
2.The transactions posted in legacy system will be update through synch ship kind of document.
3.To have a setup for this you need to have middle ware e.g Web method or XI which will transmit your legacy information to SAP system.What middle ware you are going to use?
4.In SAP you have to set up ALE -IDOC set up for receiving the information from Legacy system.Please consult your ABAP'r for this set up.

My client has an external WM system and wants to transmit his Physical Inventory & any resultant difference posting back in his SAP system.
There is an XI middleware to transmit the information. Can you give some information as to what types of ALE -IDOCs can be used to create/post physical inventory documents (i.e. create inventory document, enter the count and post difference in single ste as in trx. MI10).
We need help urgently. Thanks you.
Is your SLOC warehouse managed?
I have dealt with 3rd party inventory counting but we used a flat file as it was an anual counting process.
You can see basic types MATERIALPHYSINV_COUNT01, MATERIALPHYSINV_CREATEMULTIP01, and MATERIALPHYSINV_POSTDIFFEREN01 for your process.
