HANA 64 bit ODBC not in the list of drivers

Hi there,

I'm brand new to the SAP world and don't know very much about it.

We're trying to intall the HANA 64 bit client as we would like to query HANA views using ODBC.

I've downloaded and installed the 64 bit client and from what I can see when trying to reinstall it, it has been successfully deployed on the machine :

Select a SAP HANA Database Client installation:

No | Installation Path | Version | Mode
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1] | C:\Program Files\sap\hdbclient | 1.00.120.097.1524171507 | 64bit
| | |
2 | Install new SAP HANA Database Client | 1.00.120.097.1524171507 | 64bit

The only issue I have is when I try to create an ODBC system DSN, I can find "HDODBC" in the list of drivers when using the 32 bit odbcad32.exe (in System32 folder) but I cannot find it from SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe.

I'm a bit puzzled as I was expecting the driver to be showing in the 64 bit version of odbcad32.exe...

Is there anything I did wrong?

Cheers

Hi Seng,

Welcome to the wonderful world of SAP HANA!

Nope, you are not doing anything wrong but you might want to check the documentation about 32 and 64-bit ODBC drivers on the Microsoft Windows platform.

See, for example: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/942976/odbc-administrator-tool-displays-both-the-32-bit-and...

A 64-bit version of the Microsoft Windows operating system includes the following versions of the Microsoft Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Data Source Administrator tool (Odbcad32.exe):

  • The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder.
  • The 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\System32 folder.

Hi Denys,

Thanks for the reply. I have managed to create both 32 and 64bit HANA ODBC system DSN (having installed both version of the HANA client first).
