Hello MDM Guru's,
Could any one please guide me the advantages of MDM integration with Portal.
I have few requirements --
1. Want a Single sign on for all repositories in every enivironment for user.
2. will it help me to view the changes made after activating the Change tracker
3. Will LADP integration must if integrated with EP for Singn-sign-on.
4. Any other advantages of using more functionalities of MDM with integration of EP
Any Documents, Links which can give a overview of these are welcome.
Thanks in Advance Guys,

Hi Sri,
EP is kind of better GUI to view MDM Data Manager.
What ever u can do in MDM Data manager, u can do it thr EP in very easy & organized way.
U can add, search, change records thr EP screens.
U can give Role based access to users like requestor, Approver
Yes U can view Changes thr Change Tracking Application in EP.

Hi All,
Thanks for u r quick response. I have further questions based on replies, My Questions may look stupid, still would like to find a solution please.
1. Does Standard Business Packages of MDM-EP will slove all the requirements of MDM, can customizing be done on Business Packages.
2. About Change Tracker: we have 3 modes of checking the Changes to the Records by activating in MDM Console.
which method will be a better option with Portal--
Running in Stand-Alone Mode
Accessing it in the Web Tab of Data Manager
Configuring it as an iView
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Hi,
1. Does Standard Business Packages of MDM-EP will slove all the requirements of MDM,
Yes......... all ur basic operations can be done thr standard iviews.
Can customizing be done on Business Packages.
Yes U can customize iviews as per ur requirement
2. About Change Tracker: we have 3 modes of checking the Changes to the Records by activating in MDM Console.
which method will be a better option with Portal--
Configuring it as an iView
For other 2 options will not see changes in EP screens.
Accessing it in the Web Tab of Data Manager - U see changes in MDM Data manager Web Tab
Running in Stand-Alone Mode - U create seperate application to view changes.
Thanks,
Maheshwari
Hi Srihari,
Standard MDM-EP integration business package gives only functionality of MDM Data Manager on portal but not all the features.
You cannot completely modify business package but to some extent using EPCF eventing in which you can call the customized code based on some event. If you need a customization requirement you can use MDM Java APIs.
Change Tracker: It completely depends on your requirement. If you are accessing MDM through EP then create an iView for Change Tracking and assign it to only Admin user for monitoring purpose. Once you satrt accessing MDM through EP then there is no need to access and install MDM Data Manager. This is the biggest advantage of MDM-EP integration that no need to install GUI clients separately hence there is no logic to access Change Tracker through Web tab. Also you can access through iView then why to access it as a stand-alone application.

Hi Srihari,
The standrad business package which are required to be deployed on Ep for working with MDM and EP integration provides you with all the standard functionalities of MDM that can be enabled through EP.In short all the basic work that you can do on the MDM client (data manager) at backend can be done on EP front end. with the available iviews.
The std business content provides you with an ready to use iviews and templates etc which are designed for integration with MDM.
But if you require an additional functionality which is not specific to MDM .Then this can be done by using the Coding capabilty availiable in EP.You can customize the iview and also other requirement which will be specific to EP but will work in collboration with MDM as an Add on.
Regarding change tracking:
If you want to use the change tracking in line with EP then
Configuring it as an iView looks like the best option. But i am not sure how to go about this method.
In msot cases Change tracking in MDM works best when used as a standalone system as it address an independent issue of tracking and monitoring.
You can refer the below link on how MDM change tracking can work with Oracle :

Hope It Helped

When it is said that "Customization can be done in iView as per ur requirement" - does this mean that we can create custom UI element like Button (say a Print Button to convert the HTML content into PDF in a separate pop up window) and make it a part of the iView.
Please respond - I have similar requirement, therefore require some expert opinion
Thanks and Regards.

Hi Srihari,
In the EP- MDM integration scenario, EP acts as a front end and MDM as the back end for it.
The actions done in EP will be reflected in MDM. This is generally the case when we are going for a CMDM scenario.
Here, the user can maintain the global fieldu2019s data via Iviews in EP, while MDM will act as a central data hub.
In this process we may use MDM workflows or EP Guided procedures for data governance, with approvals, validations etc.
With a simple EP-MDM integration, you can have single sign on., by using the role and user feature.
LDAP is beneficial for more security reasons, it is not a mandatory step.
For a clear picture of why EP-MDM, please refer the below URL:

Hi Srihari,
1. EP MDM Integration can be useful to implement single sign on.
2. You will be able to view the changes by implementing change Tracking .

3. LDAP Integration is not must but can be advantegous for authentication for single sign on.
