Update of Project dates from PO confirmations

Hi all,

I have a requirement to move (update) Project dates (either activity, network or WBS dates, preferably basic dates but also any other date) when a Purchase order confirmation date (acknowledgment date) is entered in the PO for a component/s related to a project. The need is to move forward automatically or by manual rescheduling relevant dates and to indicate potential shift in project completion based on late confirmation date for a component.

In other words - need to return to a project (in any place) the PO confirmation date. Any idea how to achieve this or any workaround?

Thank you in advance,

Jordan

There is no standard connection between PS scheduling and PO confirmation dates. The closest connection is through MRP. This will require a custom solution.

You want to enter a constraint date on a network activity based on the confirmation date of the PO for a component, correct? Is only one component allowed on a nwa, you would have to require that.

    • Thank you Ken, I was afraid this would be the answer. Actually I have a Project with Subcontracting, there is an Activity in which the Subco components need to be first procured before being sent to the Subcontractor. So I have multiple components attached to the activity (procured by different vendors) and must "move" its completion date forward whenever a component recieves a confirmation which is beyond the planned finished date.. I found the confirmation date is visible in planning (MD4C) and I didn't find a way to "send" that info back to the project so I will follow your advaise of putting constraint dates with development.

For the subcon scenario you use a Subcontracting PO and MRP to control the dates. Only the finished good is a component on the NWA, the demand for the raw materials for the FG come from the PO. MRP run will take into account the PO confirmation dates for the raw and finished goods. As of Enhancement Pack 3 you can have account assigned raw mateirals for subcontracting.
