For overcoming your issue,
dont use IQ01 ...
In Co02 itself assign serial number for the material..
Eg. In a production order for a material xxxxx if you assign serial number as 1234, the next tme when you create another order for the same material xxxxx, if you try to assign ser no as 1234 ,system will tell you Serial number already exists..
thus u can fix ur problem..

Hi Russell,
Can you explain the System Status transaction PMP1 & PMP2. I am trying to look for these in Production Orders and Equipment Number Records, I am unable to find this. Can you let use know in which status these are set.
Thanks & Regards,
Arvind

Hi,
You can set system itself create Automatic seraial number for when production order is released it will automatically increased by last serial number for that material.
You can change the below settings
for that serial number profile in t code OIS2 and check the setting in serialization procedure Serial numbers in PP order release ser.usage change to 04
Hope this will helpful for you
