Cannot print

Hi,

When I try to print to a printer attached to the system, I get the following error.

enq: (FATAL ERROR): 0781-167 Could not get process credentials. Errno = 2.

enq: errno = 2: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

The OS is AIX 5.2 with ECC6 and Oracle. The printers are on the network connected to the Host (single server). The printing was working and all of a sudden it stopped.

When I try a print from OS - command "qprt -P printer testfile" it works

I checked the authorization for /var/spool/lpd/qdir and /usr//bin/enq and is supposed to be ok (as it worked earlier)

Please advise if you have any solution to my issue ....

thankz!

Hi,

We had the same issue and we had finally to restart SAP which is not a solution as we have several thousand of users. The problem is a UNIX problem. We applied the QPRT script calling the executable which the corresponding name to get a trace. This mlethod allowed to get trace in a file located per default into the TMP folder. Before this update only printers defined in L method didn't work and after all the SAP printer were down for all the countries! Panics ! As we have a cluster the unix team decided to copy the QPRT program from the passive node to the active node, program which the size was different.

Ant it works again. But we don't have any situation and the doubt is still there... If you have more information i'n very interested...

Hi Karen ,

You get following message on your system or on LPD.

If you see this message on LPD, then try virus scan on the machine on which printer is installed.

enq: (FATAL ERROR): 0781-167 Could not get process credentials. Errno = 2.

enq: errno = 2: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

After virus scan , freshly install LPD then try to print.
