Measuring Points / Counters

Hi,

Is it possible to create Measuring Points / Counters for Object Type Serial Number (without generating Equipment Numbers) i.e., is it that Meas Pt / Counters are used only for Technical Object Equipment?

Thanks.

Raj

Hi Raj,

Yes, Measuring points/counters are specifically used for technical objects. When u create a serial no. and till the time u do not activate the equipment view, u do not find a measurement point/counter tab on the screen. By any way, I dont find any use of defining measurement point/counter for a serial no.If u have some scenario otherwise, pls share it with us..

See this [SAP Help|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/19/86e83837769d7fe10000000a11405a/frameset.htm]. It seems to indicate that you may not need TechObjs

Thanks for your replies.

Saurabh: High volumes of serialized products are produced that are serviceable under warranty.

We are creating Serial Numbers for each model of the Product. We can attach Master Warranty and capture Warranty period for each Serial Number. But for creating Measuring Point / Counters, I have to generate an "Equipment Number" (via the Equipment View) for each Serial Number. If it is possible to do the same without creating Eqpt Num it will help.

Pete: I checked that link you had shown. But in T Code IQ01, I find Serial Number is not figuring in the list "Measuring Point Object (Obj.Categ. in Gen.Status Management)" and there is no IMG set up for this.

Request clarifications pls.

Thanks.

Raj,

If you need measurement points via serial numbers, then you will need to activate the equipment (IQ01/IQ02)
