master data via load from data stream - incl. hierarchy

Dear SEM-BCS Experts ; )

I've done it before, but that some time ago...

I use a method to load a lot of masterdata (cons units, mgmt cons units etc etc) from another SEM-BCS System via RFC. But the hierarchy doesn't load. I have set replication to BW (all delete).

As I said, the other system is also a SEM-BCS BW.

I need e.g. the cons units + its hierarchy. Settings are "Q1" source system with InfoObject 0company.

"Load Masterdata" set. "Load hierarchy" set. "Hierarchy attributes load" set.

For the mapping i have set the cons unit, the fiscal year var., description middel, cons group and hierarchy.

But only the units come over. There is no hierarchy created. But also no errors appear.

btw yes I read a lot here in the sdn, but didn't find the missing link.

Try mapping a version also. Units hierarchy is to be version-dependent.

thanks for the fast reply. I think the version doesn't matter. I also can't select it in any way.

I put in some more conditions (e.g. fin. items only 1...0 to 1....9; and put in that items also go to hierarchy nodes). That works better. It creates the hierarchy topnode at least. But no hierarchy.

4 error-messages appear now:

"After mapping, the successor of the hierarchy edge is blank"

"After mapping, the predecessor of the hierarchy edge is blank"

"Characteristic value is still initialized"

"Source field TEXTNODE is not available in the source data"

All items come over and it creates the hierarchy item (top tree item) but no hierarchy.

Any hints? : ))

Hi Benjamin,

Please paste some of your file here, especially the lines with row type indicator =3.

i have also done this several times in the past but I don;t have any of my files to hand.

My recollection is that to took me so long to perfect such a file that it would have been quicker to do the whole hierarchy manually, then to update manually going forward!

isn't it something like this (NB I'm guessing, not having access to the system right now);

3 TOP

3 TOP Level1

3 Level1 Level2a

3 Level1 Level 2b

3 Level2a 10001 100999

3 Level2b 20001 200999

etc.

Nb Another point is that the values in the hierarchy must exist first - defined in the same file but above the heirarchy with row types 1 & 2 or maybe even in seperate file loaded prior to the hierarchy file.

Hi,

I don't use a file. It is "load from data stream" directly from another BW SEM-BCS via RFC.

We have here a BW SEM-BCS from the group (call it A) and a BW SEM-BCS for a part of the group (call it B). To use the same masterdata on the SEM-BCS from B I created some methods "load from data stream" to pull over the masterdata of A.

E.g. i want to load financial items (only activa). I use source system "Q1" and select "0CS_ITEM" as InfoObject. I select, like said before, load of masterdata and hierarchy.

In the mapping I set the pos-plan fix, set conditions so only 1...0 to 1...9 will be transfered, I set hierarchy to hierarchy and positions to nodes and positions to positions. (explained in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem60ep1/helpdata/en/42/cb7c46d13b5043e10000000a1553f6/content.htm)

This is my mapping:

fin. item -plan: fix "50"

fin. item: only plan "11" (source) and the items from 1..0 to 1...9 go to "fin. item"

fin. item category: go to category

fin. item typ: all go to "1" (balance sheet activa)

sign: fix "+"

descriptions....

and in the section "hierarchy":

hierarchy: go to hierarchy

nodes: go to nodes

atm I try 'n error with hierarchy condition "only hierarchy version" XYZ.

Hi Eugene,

I checked 0CS_item hierarchy in rsa1 and there is no special version for that.

Version is " ". There are many special versions, but not for the masterdata of fin. items or its hierarchy.

It didnt help, actually there was a short dump

Just for a test:

- check if 0cs_item is version dependent (must be)

- create in RSA1 an hierarchy with version 100 (just a few nodes)

- try to load it via LFDS.

yes it is, ofc, time and version dependend.

But I am not able / allowed to change anything on the other BW SEM-BCS system.

It is from the group. They are very restrict ; ))

That is my problem...I have only the right to load the stuff and look at it.

I would have tested that small version ofc right from the start, but I can't.

aehhh. Maybe I should make sure what I want:

I need cons units, cons groups, mgmt cons units, mgmt cons groups and FS items.

At the moment I try with FS items, because It should be easier than cons units / groups, cause they are sticked together.

If you loaded already the master data (w/o hierarchy), maybe it worth to upload the hierarchy through flexible upload, as I described in my blog:

It works perfect!! Awesome.

Now I have only to make 2 clicks and all financial items + hierarchy is downloaded from another system : )) so coool

It is my experience, but for me too this has been some time ago, that the cons groups must be loaded prior to loading the cons unit hierarchy. Until the units are created, the hierarchy cannot be created via LDS or flex upload.

I have the masterdata of cons units and cons groups transfered allready.

Only the hierarchy doesn't work.

atm I want to test it with fin. items. Because it hasn't the external hierarchy like cons groups has with cons units.
