Dear Gurus,
there is paint shop in my company, sometime we have to do cleaning operation in paint bath some chemicals are consume in this operation, this activity done once in a week and presently we have comsume these chemicals by our component bom. But now some stock mismatch happened in system because the chemical consumed physically is not same as defined in bom and these chemical consumption is not fixed.
is there any scenerio by which we can declare cleaning as seperate task and consume chemical which is actually used.
thanks in advance,
arun

Yes it is quite possible to consume these chemicals without them being components on a BOM. It sounds like the cleaning operation is not specific to a particular product being produced and could be treated as a general maintenance task associated with the Machine rather than any particular production order.
I suggest you treat the chemicals as a consumable item, ie say you use five gallons per clean and if it comes in a 20Gallon container you issue that completely to floor stock when you need a full container on the floor as you use a portion each week nothing is transaacted in the system , when the container is empty you withdraw another 20 gallon container from the stores, which will issue this full amount. You could simply do a MIGO 201 to a cost center or set up the kanban replenishment functionality
in this approach the actual use per clean and the cost per clean will be treated as an over head and not directly into the product cost.
you could also use a production or maintenance order specifically for the cleaning task and keep it separate from the product cost.
Alternatively if the cost of these chemicals is significant and you want to distribute this over the actual product cost on teh production order then you can add additional components not ont the BOm to the production order and record actuals. however cleaning chemicals sounds like a classic floor stock item
Hope this helps
