Oracle RAC v Veritas HA

Former Member

Hello.

We currently use Veritas for high availability in our SAP environment. A two node cluster.

I am confused in regards to the capabilities of RAC. Is that not just a high availability solution just for Oracle? Why would I think about going to RAC if I have Veritas HA?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts shared.

Hi there,

RAC is not just a HA solution but a active/active cluster that makes scaling of the database in terms of processing capacity possible.

If you add a node to a RAC cluster all nodes work on the same database at the same time.

That way it is possible to have more processes working on the database in parallel.

Since this is a rather broad topic you may review your requirements before considering a move to RAC.

regards,
