English resource files

We're using Crystal Reports 2008, and we need the English resource files for the report viewer control to provide our translators. I've not been able to find any such file locally or on the internet.

I appreciate all the help. Unfortunately that zip file appears empty to me.

Hi Sidney,

Ah, sometimes it works sometimes not. We've been having an in depth discussion here around this posting and we did look and the English version is not in the zip file either. We are checking with R&D to get the info and possibly put one together for you. I'll send it to you directly once I get it and we'll add it to the zip file once it's posted on our support site.

Thanks again

Don

Hi Sidney,

We've come up with a work around that can get you going right away. Not sure how long this will take to get from R&D.

Go to this site and download the free app: http://reflector.red-gate.com/Download.aspx

Run it and for each of the dll's with corresponding txt files located in this folder for CR XI R2:

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\managed\en

CR 2008:

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\managed\en

you can use this tool to browse the string tables and add the ID's and get the English values. Then modify a copy of each of the txt files and save accordingly.

We don't get many requests for this so it's going to be low in priority to get R&D to do this. Opening each of our dll's string tables will allow you keep the ID's up to date for each version you have and use.

Thanks again

Don

Hi Sidney,

Can you add more details, what DEV language are you using etc?

For English only the language resource are embedded in the dll's. Typically you would install all languages and then you'll find them in the:

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86

And are labelled like this: activextools_res_en.dll

en being the english resource file.

Thank you

I'm using C# .NET 3.5.

Maybe I'm approaching this wrong (I started this project in CR 10, but we're now using CR 2008). I was under the impression that I needed to get a file (see below), translate it into (say) Hungarian, then convert it into a resource with a command line tool, and compile that into an assembly.

If that's correct, then for the first two steps I'll need a human readable file, not an assembly.

What I would like is the English version of the "Viewer.txt" file (in German below) that starts, as follows:

#==============================================================================

1. File: Viewer.txt

2. Summary: This file contains GERMAN resources for CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer

#==============================================================================

ID_HELP_ABOUT=Hilfe

ID_VIEW_GROUPTREE=Gruppenstruktur umschalten

ID_SEARCH=Text suchen

ID_GOTOPAGE=Gehe zu Seite

I know that the IDs are in English, but some of them are shorthand, like:

ID_OPEN_REPORT_DIALOG_TITLE=Vorhandenen Crystal Reports-Bericht öffnen

IDS_ERR_BUSY=Das Steuerelement ist mit dem Herunterladen von Daten beschäftigt.

Hi Sidney,

Thank you for more details.

Here's a link on how to:

http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2SP2/en/en/CrystalReports_dotNET_SDK/crsdk_n...

I searched according to the doc and the file does not exist. I'm asking the people looking after this for an update and where to find it.

I'll post it when I find out. Found it, I've attached the file but not usre if you'll be able to get it. I'll ask the WEB people to post it on our download site for all to get.

Thank you for your patience

Don
