Display only access to Catalogs

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a role that would provide display only access to catalogs without also providing the user with access to shopping transactions such as BBPSC02.

Thanks

Simon

    Hi Simon,

If the user has no access to shopping then they will have no possibility to add this catalog data anywhere?

If you wish to directly access the catalog there are two scenarios, as was already mentioned you can access the catalog via the catalog design center (edit catalogs link in CCM 2.0) which will allow the user to see the items in the catalog directly, this does not allow them to use any great search mechanism like TREX etc as they are viewing the 'raw' catalog data not indexed search data.

To view directly the search engine data you sould allow them access to the CSE directly by using the same URL as is in the catalog call structure for the catalog but replacing MAIN.DO for TMP_ENTRY.HTM

They could then enter their user id there and select the catalog to view and providing they have the /CCM/CATALOG_SEARCH role assisgned to their user they can use this to view the catalog, search functions/catalog navigation etc will work exactly the same as in the SRM shopping cart. However, selecting the 'Add to shopping cart' will result in a blank screen with no submit as the BASKETTARGET parameter is set to NONE. So they can simulate the catalog shopping without having access to SRMSERVER directly.

    Regards,

    Jason

You can use the standard role /CCM/CATALOG_SEARCH for the display only access.

The URL for the catalog center will be of the form

    http:// : /sap/bc/bsp/ccm/cat_cdc/ container.htm

Note: Use your Server & Port details in the above URL

    Hi Kathirvel,

    Thanks for your quick response.

Will this work for an end user who only wants to access the system to view catalogs via the browser ?

    Thanks

    Simon

Yes, as long as you have set that user and provided appropiate authorization. We never had this requirement, but I remember accessing the catalogs using the above option. I am sure it should help.
