Hello all,
I’m writing regarding a questionfor BW/4HANA. We are trying to migrate some InfoObjects from BW 7.4 to BW/4HANA using the Transfer toolbox and performing the Remote Conversion. In our scenario, there are some InfoObjects which are based on Hana Calculation Views.
It is possible technically to connect directly the InfoObjects from BW4 with the calculation views from another system, in our case (S/4HANA 1709)?
As far as I know, it is not possible, as they must be in the same system for the connection to work directly.
Usually, the Open ODS View is used to virtually report directly on data from another system. In case there is a need to use the data brought virtually from the other system within current BW flows (like we have in our case) – then the Open ODS View must be connected to a DataSource object type and then change further all data flows above, meaning a complete redesign of the existing BW data flows, which must not be the case for our scenario.
Could you please help?
Thank you.
Hi Cristina,
No, at the time (and on the versions I have access to) you can't connect directly your InfoObject to a remote view (but you can do it indirectly through virtual tables).
Did SAP plan to implement it (as for open DSO) ? I have no clue but I imagine that performance issues can quickly arise with master data handled remotely.
Regards,
Frederic
