Significance of ADDRESSNUMBER in ADDRESS - ENDADDRESS syntax

Can anyone explain me what exactly significance of ADDRESSNUMBER in ADDRESS - ENDADDRESS syntax?

I have gone throu2019 documentation of function ADDRESS_INTO_PRINTFORM but not able to understand why we need to use ADDRESSNUMBER?
