Configuring New ABC code for a Plant

Hi Gurus,

I am in the process of creating new ABC code "Z" and needs to be assigned to a Plant. Please let me know what are the configuration settings. Also there are 2 fields for ABC code in a Material Master views and I am not sure why they are used. Please help me understand them.

1. ABC indicator in MRP1 view and it leads to below IMG path.

IMG > Logistics General > Material Master > Settings for Key Fields > Extend ABC indicator.

2. CC phys. inv. in Plant Data-Storage 1 view and it leads to below path. This ABC code can be assigned to a Plant.

IMG > Materials Management > Inv Mgt and Physical Inv. > Phy. Inv. > Cycle Counting.

Also what are the tests that needs to be done after creating them.

Thank You in advance..

Thanks.

KIT..

1. Determined with transaction MC40

The ABC indicator in MRP view is the classical ABC indicator from the ABC analysis based on consumption values.

A procedure to determine the importance of an object.

You perform an ABC analysis to classify objects according to specific criteria or performance measures. Each object is assigned one of the following indicators:

A - Important

B - Less important

C - Relatively unimportant

2. ABC indicator for cycle count is determined with transaction MIBC, can be on consumption or based on requirements, or defined by any other means. E.g even a material has a low value and has no big consumption, it may be a critical material for many of your processes, then you classify it manually with A.

The indicator is only used to determine how many times you want count your materials during a year.

If you dont do cycle counting, then you dont need to take care about this indicator, or you can use it as an alternative to the first.
