Hello all,
When installing ECC 6.0 IDES (ABAP + JAVA), came across the following error.
Checked and saw that jlaunch is not there. Is this some kind of bug? The is an Oracle/Linux installation
Why is this the case? What can one do to get around the problem?
TIA

Did you check the j2ee directory in DVEBMGS<>? If the structure of J2ee is ok then check the following parameters are there in instance profile:
jstartup/trimming_properties = off
jstartup/protocol = on
jstartup/vm/home = /opt/java1.4
jstartup/max_caches = 500
jstartup/release = 700
jstartup/instance_properties = $(jstartup/j2ee_properties):$(jstartup/sdm_properties)
j2ee/dbdriver = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/db2jcc.jar:$(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/db2jcc_license_cu.jar
rdisp/j2ee_start_control = 1
rdisp/j2ee_start = 1
rdisp/j2ee_libpath = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)
exe/j2ee = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/jcontrol$(FT_EXE)
rdisp/j2ee_timeout = 600
rdisp/frfc_fallback = on
icm/HTTP/j2ee_0 = PREFIX=/,HOST=localhost,CONN=0-500,PORT=5$$00
If missing then put them and try to start it again.

Thanks so much for the response
Basically, it seems as though there is nothing at all below the j2ee level. It is like it never got installed. The directories are there but they are empty ...
I mentioned to use both the ABAP and JAVA stacks
The problem I have is similar to this one:

Dont know what happened but I just stopped, started and stopped the SAP system. I then started the installation once more and it got past that part fine.
This is the second time that such an action has solved a problem during an installation 😐
All is OK now. Thank you again for your inputs.

Hello again,
This is what was at the bottom of the logfile: "stepLogMessages.xml". Also, when going to /usr/sap/KDE/DVEBMGS30/exe it seems as though no j2ee scripts/executables got installed. The only one that seemed to get in was: jlogunzip.jar.
When looking at another machine, the following should also be there.
jlogunzip.jar
sapccm4x
sapccmsr
jcontrol
jlaunch
jcmon
vscan_rfc
sldreg
libsapcsa.so
webdispinst.lst
scsclient.lst
scs.lst
sapmanifest.mf
sapcpeft
j2eeinst.lst
instance.lst
gateway.lst
sapmanifestdb.mf
instancedb.lst
exe_ora.lst
sapdba_role.sql
sapconn_role.sql
2008 R3trans
startsap
startj2eedb
startdb
stopj2eedb
stopdb
But these are not present. It is as though not all of the executables got installed - but - at the same time, there are no errors to report other than the "jlaunch" error. What would cause this?
TIA.
