Junk Characters in SM21

Hi,

When i go to SM21> Display> Central System Log, i get the following message.Pls help me of how to correct the problem.

I have refered to note no 761220 and also implemented note no 001072179, but did not solve the purpose.

Hello,

we had similar problems after Unicode conversion.

Solution was to upgrade all of these:

• SAP Basis patchlevel

• SAP kernel

• SAP GUI

Hi,

Since you know that BASIS Patch or Kernel cannot be upgraded directly before testing . hence it is going to be a 6 month process.

Please let me know if there is any other way to correct the problem

I can't know, sorry.

I can't even be sure that my solution will work for you as well.

But let's see:

Check your versions for the 3 components mentioned above.

If they are quite old, then I am sure you should upgrade.

If they are quite new, then probably your problem will be something different.

You might open a support call with SAP.

But if your versions are old, they will probably insist on an upgrade first.

Hi ,

This note 688089 can be applied if the error occurs for all system logs. but our situation is that this error occurs only for Central System logs

We utilized this note in our situation where the dialog instance logs displayed incorrectly and the central instance log was correct. We only had to apply the note suggestions to some of the system logs, not all. This would seem to apply to your situation. If you take no action, option (5) in the note will work eventually as the old system log entries cycle out of the file over time.
