Using classification as product specifications

Hi there, I have the following situation to work around and, so far, I can´t find a solution:

All my material types are not configurable materials allowed.

I have a product specification that needs to be in my production orders printing form.

This specification is co-related to the option of one kind of components present in the BOM.

This component is in the BOM and also using alternative item rule.

As example:

Product CAN has a class named SPECS and one of its classifications is DIAMETER.

This classification can change depending if I use component ALUMINIUM, STAILESS STELL or PLASTIC.

But, as a rule, ALUMINIUM is my first option and it is configured as number 1 priority in the alternative rule. Then, STAINLESS STELL is my second and PLASTIC is my third.

What I was thinking: Create a classification MATERIAL and insert and action or a procedure that would be update DIAMETER.

Someone would have to change MATERIAL when converting the planned order into a prod order or before releasing the production order. That way, that person would check the component being used in the BOM and reflect it in this class.

This DIAMETER is important for a complex calculation that results the quantity of MATERIAL required and inserted by another software into that particular production orders BOM.

The problems I am facing are:

--> What type of class can I use to be able to have it in the Production Orders? It can be viewable in the Material Master, no problem, but it needs to reflect the MATERIAL being used.

--> How can I configure classification MATERIAL so it changes DIAMETER value? I tried using action and procedure in a 001 class. I inserted the action/procedure in MATERIAL classification - It didn´t work. Then, I inserted the action/procedure in the MATERIAL value - It didn´t work. And last, I inserted the action/procedure in the class... no luck again. I tried with local and global dependency...
