We are moving from WD JAVA ESS to WD ABAP ESS, as of now we are using our custom built W-2 election and Online W-2 view, now we want to use standard ESS WD ABAP screens.
I understand that WD ABAP ESS W-2 uses Infotype 3228 entry (online vs paper) to generate online W-2 when payroll team does it in PU19 and updates IT3228 second half screen with W2 information which will be shown in WD ABAP screen. If the user selects as paper form then online W-2 not generated and will not show up in Infotype 3228 so the same will not show up in Online W-2 screen in portal (wd abap screen).
Issues we have this and need work around are:
1. Our business gives flexibility to employees that they can change the W-2 election from Paper to Online anytime during year (after W-2's generated too) and can see Online W-2s for already generated year and previous years.
How to achieve it? As employee previous selected Paper Only, his/her W-2 is not generated in IT3228 and now employee select Online only option, how to generate W-2 on fly now?
2. When we move from current custom W-2 application to standard ESS WD ABAP service / screen, all user's IT3228 records will be blank, that is OK we can load all of them using simple program to populate IT3228. But,
How we get W-2 for previous years in IT3228 (do Payroll team need to run PU19 for all previous years again?)?
3. Using custom application we are showing online W-2s, that means users W-2's are already generated and available, how to update that information into IT3228?
