Pros and cons of creating the appointment in Outlook vs. CRM

Iu2019m looking and client-based groupware integration for appointments, and Iu2019m not sure if itu2019s best to create appointments in Outlook or CRM.

When creating the appointment in Outlook:

u2022 The invitation is sent via E-mail to the attendees

u2022 Appointment details => Account / Contact donu2019t get populated, which leads to incompleteness of the activity document in CRM

u2022 Location / room can be booked

u2022 The appointment canu2019t be linked to a reference document, like an opportunity

u2022 The only Attendee being populated is the function Owner

When creating the appointment in CRM:

u2022 The invitation is not sent via E-mail to the attendees, since they are only replicated to the free text field in Outlook

u2022 Location / room canu2019t be booked

u2022 Reoccurring appointments canu2019t be created

u2022 Reminder canu2019t be set

Have I missed anything, or do you know workarounds to some of these issues?

Does anyone have practical experience on how to work with this? Is the best way to create the appointment in Outlook, replicate it to CRM and then complete it with the missing Attendees etc. there?

Kind regards,

Johan Wigert
