What is the Execution Hint in Calc view Parameter?

Hi Experts,

Do any of you know how to setup the execution hint in calculation view? I need to setup the “no_use_olap_plan” hint to a calculation view with a parameter value. Not sure, what is it’s combination. Can you help with this? Also, do you have any documents?

While Going through the Hana Reference I found out the Below Point for the Execution Hint:

Execution hints impacts the output data. SAP HANA provides different execution hints. Execution hints are name-value pairs, which helps the optimizer to optimize the execution process dynamically based on specific criteria. In other words, the hints instruct the optimizer on the access paths to execute the calculation view.

But ,I could not understand how it will impact the Output.Please can someone reply it with a Sample Calc view. It will be really very helpful.

Hi Anuj,

These are not really meant to be used that way. The Execution Hints are actual fine tuning of the calculation engine model instantiation not the general query execution plan.

For that reason it is not to be used unless requested by SAP HANA Support during an incident analysis (see SAP Note 2142945 - FAQ: SAP HANA Hints).

With SAP HANA 1.0 database Revisions of SPS12 and later you can apply SQL hints on view level.

See SAP Note 2509161.
